Preface

This short booklet is written to explain deception. In nature it has many players. It is by no means a complete list; only a few of the various ways are described in this booklet. Some are unexplainable with the present knowledge.

The second part of this booklet shows how mankind can deceive or be deceived. Since man is a spiritual being in a physical body, the biggest danger for him is what comes from the spiritual. That is because it affects his whole person. For example, when Germany’s dictator, Hitler, called out all the good things he was going to do for Germany, a high percentage of the people believed his deception. Why? They were only looking at the natural and their needs, rather than the spiritual unsaid message.

This has been mankind’s downfall right from the beginning. Hitler surrounded himself with some highly intelligent people. However, many if not most were living in spiritual poverty. The prophet Isaiah spoke God’s word to Israel right before their fall and captivity into Assyria (722 B. C.). “Hearing you will hear and shall not understand, and seeing you will see and not perceive; for the hearts of this people have grown dull…” (Matthew 13:14-15).

This may help the reader to understand what is being said in this booklet.

The Basic Foundation of Every truth or Error on the Planet is Found in Four Categories

The four categories are Animal, Vegetable, Mineral or Spiritual. The fourth relates to mankind. We will look at animals first:

1. Animal: Animals are found throughout the world. They come in many different species, colors and shapes. Some change their color, or nature does it for them; and some have other deceptive abilities as well.

Metamorphosis: A change practiced by some living creatures, marked by change of character, appearance, condition, etc. (Webster New World Dictionary). Example: Tad poles = frogs; a mimic octopus( unlike a regular octopus) rapidly alters its shape, texture, and color to match colorful sea creatures). Flounders, squid, crab spiders, cuttlefish, and others have also shown these abilities. The fox in Iceland changes color according to the time of year. The fox is known as a deceiver, crafty and sly. This deception is done to fool enemies of the fox. Certain emotions or fears in the brain may create or bring on chemicals that may cause this change. It may be just the time of year that brings this about. A snowshoe hare’s brown fur turns white just in time to blend in with the winter frost. These changes can be life saving to the creatures that change. Some mother birds that have eggs in a nest put on a wounded bird act. The bird will hobble away from the nest to make their enemies think they might be able to catch this bird that looks wounded. However, she is trying to save her eggs or her young from deceiving predators. Since the bird seems wounded, they may follow her away from the nest for some distance.

2. Vegetable: Changes among vegetable life is not as plentiful. Sea cucumbers are said to morph into its host plant. The Venus fly plant is known as a plant that deceives insects who land and walk inside the flower of the plant. They are caught quickly as the plants’ leaves closes up on the insect. For the plant to do this, the enticement of the plant may be the color or odor, or both, to deceive the insect. This plant may appear innocent by those that may land on them.

There are people who play music to plants. They measure the plant, and say it changes the plant. They may be measured from observation of its growth, color and how healthy the plant appears.

3. Mineral: Fool’s gold, (iron or copper pyrites) has fooled many a novice gold miner. This is because fool’s gold in many respects looks like real gold. It is found often in the same location as real gold, sometimes in the same rocks as real gold.

It may be a freak of nature that created it. However, it seems more likely that the Creator may have planned for it to be found by future generations for their needs because of the close proximity to real gold. In the 1840’s Gold Rush many miners swarmed over the land in California. The new miners had to learn the difference between the deceptive fool’s gold versus the real gold, because many had put all their money into finding what they thought was real gold. If they did not know the difference, it could put them into total poverty.

Jewelers can make glass or other minerals to look like diamonds. Again, a novice could be completely deceived. Other phony gems can also be made to look like the real gem. This is done sometimes to deceive a buyer into thinking he is buying the real gem and something of real wealth.

Mirage: “This is an optical illusion caused by refraction of light, in which distant objects appear to be near-by.” (Webster’s New World Dictionary). This phenomenon may happen rarely, but has fooled people into thinking the objects seen are nearby and real, when in fact they may be long distances away from the mirage. Some people may think a mirage is real when in reality there is nothing there. No one can say when or how a mirage may happen. However, for those in need and act to go to the mirage it can bring great trouble, or even death. This mirage may be water, or other needs of a person. If in a desert, the hope of filling a desperate need may take all the energy a person has left.

Another phenomenon is a person who is lost in virtually cold weather. As he becomes colder, he believes he is too hot. He is deceived into taking all of his clothes off. Without rescue, he will freeze to death, or degenerate into shock and die.

Basic Elements of the Planet: There are, as of this writing, 123, or so, basic elements of the earth, and meteorites. Since the earth is made of these basic elements, most would say they cannot be changed from its element into another element. That, too, is a deception. In the 1940’s, scientists changed lead into gold, two different elements into one element – gold. (Google it on the internet.)

The purpose of showing these different categories is to show the deception in nature. Many times the change is for the protection of living creatures and their survival from natural enemies. Other changes of what man thinks but he doesn’t know, or think, can also be to his hurt. For example, chasing a mirage will lead him further from the truth and sometimes his survival, as shown already.

What has been shown up to this point are the three categories in nature.

Summary of Nature

These examples found in nature require a designer or intelligence, as most have a clear purpose. This can be shown just by what most of the changes are designed to do, protect the life of the creatures from their enemies. However, it does not seem to be true in every case. For example, iron pyrites (fool’s gold) many times can be found where gold is found. The finder may be deceived into not searching further to find the gold. It may be hidden for another 500 years or so, as stated earlier. Overall, preserving all of these three creations may fulfill the need for future generations. No one can say for sure.

4. Spiritual: Scripture teaches that the Creator made this world for man to live on this planet in peace and tranquility. But because man (Adam) chose to follow an enemy of the Creator, as well as himself, even after being warned, he fell into the dark life and deception of the enemy. One only has to read history, or look at the ruler over the world today to see the facts. The fall of man came about through this deception, and continues over the world to this day. The Creator gave life without death to the first man and woman. The enemy, who deceived them, brought to them a life which ends in death, (hence the law of sin and death). So today this planet is one big grave yard, and man cannot do anything about it in himself to change the law of sin and death.

The enemy is the devil, who exists in spiritual darkness. Man, by his nature and choice, has been brought into the devil’s kingdom (Psalms 51:5).

The spiritual is the very foundation of how man is made, as all people must have a spirit or they will die. When man is deceived and lives in spiritual deception, his body is alive but his spirit in him is spiritually dead.

Man is a sinner by inheritance and by his actions (Romans 5:12), and is fallen away from the Creator and the perfection of His creation. Therefore the law of sin and death is his life. If man chooses to receive Truth in Jesus Christ, he receives regenerative life from his Creator, (Colossians 1:16; John 1:3) because He is the Light and the Giver of all life. In Him there is no deception (darkness) at all (John 9:50; 1 John 1:5).

Jesus said “…I am the light of the world; he that follows Me shall not follow darkness, but shall have the Light of Life” (John 8:12). Jesus is the only perfected being that ever existed in this world.

Scripture reads of Jesus Christ, “…for He was the second Adam without sin” —”The first man was of the earth, made of dust, the second Man is the Lord from heaven” (1 Corinthians 45, 47). Jesus, while on this earth, humbled Himself and lived a life of servant hood. He was and is a servant to servants. He lived only to do His Father’s will. His Father in heaven said of Him, “And suddenly a voice came from heaven saying, this is my beloved Son in Whom I am well pleased” (Matthew 3:17).

He represented, while on the earth, His Father in heaven. Everything Jesus did was what His Father in heaven told Him to do (John 8:28). He was a perfect example of One who lived in the kingdom of God, without error.

What is Man?

“What is man that You are mindful of him. You have made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands. You have put all things under his feet” (Psalms 8:4, 6). This portion is written to help the reader study the three diagrams being presented. What is not shown in the diagrams is that God has put His laws in every person’s conscience. These laws trigger the conscience of a person as to right or wrong decisions a person may make (Romans 2:14-15). This is true the world over. Next, a graph is taken from a booklet entitled, Spirit, Soul and Body, written by D. Neely. It will give the one seeking truth a strong foundation on how Scripture is put together to teach all people the way the Creator made us. It will help the person who has not yet come to faith in Jesus Christ, or who wants knowledge and understanding in truth. When these diagrams are understood, he will be able to understand himself better, and the words of Jesus will make sense to the one seeking truth.

This is a study on the creation of man. Scripture shows us that man is made a spirit, soul, and body. This study looks at the difference between the three parts of man and their function. In this study, the three parts are shown so a person may analyze and understand what motivates him or what part of himself is directing his whole person.

For example if a person were addicted to drugs or alcohol the chemical demand of his body may hold his soul and spirit in servitude. If the person is making his or her decisions based on emotions, the spirit and soul do not have freedom to make sound decisions. Or the person, who makes decisions without much regard as to their conscience, may put their soul and body into jeopardy.

The study and analyzing of the human person (ourselves) can be very helpful to realize our strong points or weaknesses. Recognizing how God’s order for Adam was to live, (seen in the diagram 1) and how far man has fallen from this place is necessary to the person who wants to live according to the way God intends for man to live.

In diagram 2 it is not hard to identify these traits that function within us, and are taken for granted by most people to be natural. These works of the flesh in man are the result of his Adamic nature, and bring spiritual death to him. The man who follows his 5 senses is most readily seen by all. However, the sin in the spirit and soul are the most deadly and deceptive to men who see nothing wrong with themselves and yet are living apart from God. Their religion or good morals they may feel make them acceptable to God.

Diagram 3 shows that it is mandatory for a person to be indwelt by the Holy Spirit to live according to God’s mind and purpose. Only by having the mind of Christ and following the Holy Spirit’s leading can a person come to see the kingdom of God and have power to follow and live in it. There are questions for more study at the end of the booklet. If the person will write out his or her answers to these questions, then examine their own answers, it will reveal much to that person. It is more revealing to us when we put our answers on paper and analyze them by comparing them to the Word of God.

Truth or Error?

Is There an Ultimate Truth?

This question has normally been answered by an authority in civil government with power to enforce it. Or is it a religion that has been taught. Many times the two conflict with one another. For example, it has been reported that in China over 1 million people (Muslims) are in prison for not believing in Communism. (Communism is a higher and more violent form of socialism). In Communist governments, over 100 million or more have been reported murdered for non-compliance by their own government in the last century. Over the years, both Islam and Communism have by force pushed their form of religion. Both believe they have and live in complete truth.

The god of Socialism or Communism is man being the god of his own life (no deity but himself). These religions are based on the religion of Humanism. The U. S. Supreme Court has ruled that Humanism is a religion (1961 Torcaso v.), the self god. The god of Islam is Allah, a god of Arabian tribes dating back the 600 A.D. and before. Both have shown themselves to be violent regarding their religion. This pattern has been repeated many times over, for thousands of years. This subject is endless.

Truth

There is only one man who came into the world to declare Himself, His very person, as the Truth of all eternity (John 14:6, 18:37). When Jesus declared this about Himself to Pilate, the Roman governor, who put Him on trial said, “What is truth?” He did not know. The Scriptures call Jesus Christ the Word of God (John 1:1; 19:13). God’s Son came into this world, as prophesized in the Scripture, that He would bring light and truth. “For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved” (John 3:17). Jesus alone had the only power in history to grant pure light and the gift of eternal life, for He was the Light of the world. He said, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness but have the light of life” (John 8:12). This means the Christian will have the Holy Spirit living in him to be able to live his life unto God. (John 7:37-38)

God gave Israel His Holy Spirit (the Light of life) to direct them and “The Law of Moses to lead them.” The Roman army took over Israel in about 44 B.C. After being in occupation for some time in Israel, one of the generals observed and reported that Israel had higher laws and ways of life than any other nation that Rome had taken over.

The Test U.S.A.

Millions of people in the world want to come to this country (USA). The people who were the founding fathers, with some exceptions, were followers of Jesus Christ. Jehovah, the eternal God of Israel declared through the Prophet Isaiah (750 B.C.). “I have made the earth, and created man on it. I – my hands – stretched out the heavens, and all their host I have commanded “(Isaiah 45:12). Now we know that Messiah who came to Israel was Jehovah God in human form. For Scripture reveals this about Jesus Christ, the Creator:

Epistle of John: “All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made” (John 1:3).

Epistle of Colossians: “For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on the earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things and in Him all things consist” (Colossians 1:16-17).

Epistle of Hebrews: “God has, in these days, spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds; who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the majesty on high” (Hebrews 1:1-3). These Scriptures declare that Jesus Christ is the Creator of all things in heaven and earth.

John 1:14 tells us that God took on human flesh and became a man and lived among His creation. While here, He raised the dead to life again, healed the blind and the cripple, healed the sick, and gave words of grace and mercy to the repentant. The greatest of all, He came to give man the way out of the darkness of this world by giving His Law of the Spirit of Life and Light to all who will follow Him. They would no longer have to live under the Law of Sin and Death. Jesus Christ will give to every person who comes to Him in faith the Law of the Spirit of Life which makes a person free from the Law of Sin and Death. (Romans 8:2)

What is the Answer?

“For I delivered to you first of all that which I received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures” (1 Corinthians 15:3-4). To receive this Regenerative Life, is to enter into faith in Jesus who shed His blood at Calvary for our sins, and to believe as the Scripture teaches that He died, went into the grave for three days and three nights, then arose from among the dead the third day alive forevermore. After His resurrection, Jesus said, “I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold I am alive forevermore, Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of death” (Revelation 1:18). Jesus said “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?” (John 11:25-26).

For the new Believer

“God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man that should repent…” (Numbers 22:19).

There is No Deception in the Kingdom of God

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold all things have become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17).

“If then you were raised with Christ (given a new life, a life free from eternal death), seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God” (Colossians 3:1). “For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:38-39).
